During its Build 2016 even in San Francisco, Microsoft has announced that the Windows 10 OS is now running on 270 million devices.
This makes the Windows 10 an operating system with the fastest adoption rate of any Windows OS.
The number is not exactly precise as Microsoft is not measuring total device installations or daily activity but
rather how many people were using Windows 10 at least once in the last 30 days and it also includes smartphones, tablets and Xbox One consoles running on the new OS.
In any case, this is quite an impressive number for Windows OS and it is a decent boost from 200 million users Microsoft reported back in July last year. Of course, it is still far away from 1 billion active Windows 10 devices in first three years which was earlier promised by Microsoft.
During the same Build 2016 event, Microsoft has announced its next big Windows 10 update, called the Anniversary Update, which will be free to Windows 10 users.
