HTC Vive VR Headset costs €899 in Europe

Shipping adds even more

In a new blog post, HTC has confirmed pricing for the upcoming HTC Vive virtual reality headset that should be ready for pre-order as of today, February 29th. According to the price list, in most of Europe, HTC Vive VR Headset will sell for €899, exc. shipping.

In case you missed it earlier, the HTC Vive VR Headset package will feature the headset, two wireless controllers, two base stations, a link box and a pair of Vive earbuds. Those that pre-order it, will also get two games, Job Simulator and Fantastic Contraption, as well as the Google Tilt Brush app.

Unfortunately, it appears that in Europe, the HTC Vive VR Headset will not be as "affordable" as in the US as the price is set at €899 for most of Europe. In the US, the HTC Vive will go on sale for US $799 but that price does not include tax.

The price for Europe also does not include the shipping cost so expect to pay over €50 more to get it to your place.

The virtual reality gaming looks impressive but it is still reserved for enthusiasts and it will take some time before it becomes mainstream. Hopefully, as soon as Sony comes up with its own VR headset, things will become a bit more affordable.
