MSI fixes Skylake freeze bug on its motherboards

Releases new motherboard BIOS update

MSI has released a BIOS update for a couple of its motherboards that should fix the Skylake freeze issue with Prime95 benchmark.

In case you missed it earlier, the issue with Skylake CPUs was spotted by a team of mathematicians, called the Mersenne Community and it only happens when certain complex workload is done, in this case, hunting down prime numbers with Prime95 software.

While the noticed freeze bug would not have any effect on an average user, MSI has decided to fix the issue nevertheless. The current list of motherboards include the Z170A XPower Gaming Titanium and Z170A Gaming M7 but MSI promises that all motherboards will get a similar BIOS update.

Bear in mind that these are still beta BIOS updates so in case you have not noticed any problems with your Skylake CPU, you might want to wait for a non-beta BIOS update which should come eventually.

You can find those BIOS update files over at MSI's One Drive link.
