According to a latest report from Jon Peddie Reseach, the VGA market share in Q3 2015 has generally decreased but AMD has managed to gain some market share at the expense of Nvidia.
According to a report from JPR, the third quarter was marked by AMD's release of the new Fury Series graphics cards and the new Fiji GPU while Nvidia has unveiled details regarding its next-generation GPU, codename Pascal.
According to the report, the AIB market increased by 27.6 percent compared to the last quarter but fell by 3.9 percent compared to the same quarter last year. According to the same report, total AIB shipments decreased down to 12.0 million compared to the last quarter. AMD managed to increase its total desktop AIB unit shipments by 33.3 percent while Nvidai units shipments increased by 26.4 percent.
While AMD might have gained some market share and currently holds 18.8 percent, which is by 0.8 percent more compared to the previous quarter, this is still far from 28.4 percent AMD held last year. Nvidia is still dominant with 81.1 percent, which is down from 81.9 percent during last quarter, but still up from 71.5 percent it held in the same quarter last year.
Both AMD and Nvidia, as well as its AIB partners, are looking forward to the fourth quarter as strong holiday shopping season could make or break their year.
