According to newest report it appears AMD's Radeon R9 Fury X is suffering from quite a bad case of short supply as, while the price should be US $649, some R9 Fury X graphics cards are selling for as high as US $899, and that is even if you can find it available.

While we already heard rumors that AMD's Fiji-based graphics card might be in short supply due to problems with High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) yields, it appears that those rumors were spot on as Radeon R9 Fury X is quite hard to find and has been out of stock in all major US retail/e-tail shops, according to a fresh report from Wccftech.com.

With the strong demand for the graphics card and lack of supply, some retailers, like Amazon.com are listing the Radeon R9 Fury X for as high as US $899, a full US $250 over the suggested price.

During company's Q2 2015 financial call, AMD's CEO, Dr. Lisa Su, already talked about the issues regarding the initial ramp-up for the Radeon R9 Fury X, suggesting that things should change soon and that the overall HBM ramp-up was as expected.

The high price of the Radeon R9 Fury X has even expanded to used graphics cards which are now selling on eBay for as high as US $660.

While the part of the problem might be with the HBM yields, the fact that air cooled Radeon R9 Fury (non-X) is still widely available suggest that the bigger part of the problem is the demand.

AMD Radeon R9 Nano comes with the same price as the Radeon R9 Fury X and offers quite a punch for its size but still targets the niche market so expected demand is not high. AMD Radeon R9 Nano could be yet another part of the short supply problem of the Radeon R9 Fury X as AMD wants to keep some chips for that graphics card.

In any case, hopefully the situation will get better as at US $899, the Radeon Fury X is quite an expensive piece of hardware.
