TSMC gets 16nm orders from AMD and Nvidia

Still on target

Although TSMC is behind Samsung when it comes to FinFET manufacturing process, it appears chip maker got orders from both AMD and Nvidia.

While it might have lost customers like Apple and Qualcomm, mostly due to the fact that its 16nm FinFET manufacturing process was late, it appears that TSMC will still make chips for both Nvidia and AMD.

AMD plans to use both 14nm FinFET and 16nm FinFET manufacturing process for its upcoming products and while 14nm chips should come from GlobalFoundries, 16nm chips, including the rumored Greenland GPU, should be based on TSMC's 16nm manufacturing process.

Nvidai on the other hand already used Samsung's manufacturing process but it appears that next big GPU, Pascal GP100, will be coming from TSMC as well.

The rest of the TSMC customers include Apple, Avago, Broadcom, HiSilicon Technologies, LG Electronics, MediaTek and Xilinx, all which, according to the report from Digitimes, rely heavily on TSMC.
