Futuremark has announced a new DirectX 11 benchmark test aimed at gaming notebooks and mid-range PCs which should be ideal for testing mainstream graphics cards, mobile GPUs or even integrated graphics cards.
Featuring a wingsuit woman skydiving on a rather beautiful rendered location and including tessellation, particles as well as advanced post-processing effects, the new 3DMark Sky Diver benchmark will not only push the mid-range and mobile GPUs to their limit but also look good by doing it.
"Some people think that 3DMark is only for high-end hardware and extreme overclocking. Yet millions of PC gamers rely on 3DMark to choose systems that best balance performance, efficiency and affordability. 3DMark Sky Diver complements our other tests by providing the ideal benchmark for gaming laptops and mainstream PCs", said Jukka Makinen, CEO of Futuremark.
The new Sky Diver benchmark will join the Fire Strike, aimed at high-end gaming PCs, Cloud Gate, for standard notebooks and home PCs and Ice Storm benchmark aimed at tablets and entry-level PCs.
The new 3DMark Sky Diver benchmark will be showcased during Computex at ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte, Galaxy, Inno3D and G.Skill booths. The 3DMark Sky Diver benchmark will be released as an update for all editions of the 3DMark, including the free 3DMark Basic Edition but Futurmark left the date for Computex announcement.
