Shuttle announces new fanless single-bay NAS

With built-in WiFi hotspot

Shuttle has just announced a new addition to its network-attached storage product lineup, the entry-level fanless single-bay KS10 NAS.

Suitable for storing files on the local network, location-independent data backup or setting up a private cloud, the KS10 is a rather simple looking little NAS which supports single 3.5-inch HDD as well as features USB ports for additional external storage and/or printer.

It uses Gigabit Ethernet network connection which should offer transfer speeds of up to 80MB/s and 60MB/s for read and write, and also features a built-in, access-protected WiFi hotspot.

"Once you've taken the machine out of the box, it can be set up in just a few simple steps. A multilingual wizard guides newcomers by the hand through the process," explains Tom Seiffert, Head of Marketing & PR at Shuttle Computer Handels GmbH. "The supplied OMNINAS Finder tool and OMNINAS apps for Android and iOS offer additional convenience for use on the move."

According to Shuttle, the new KS10 NAS consumes less than 6W in standby mode and around 12W during normal operation so sounds perfect for those looking for a simple home NAS.

Unfortunately, Shuttle did not announce any details regarding the price or the availability date but a quick check shows it listed in Europe with a price starting at €78,50.
