Oculus Rift dev kit passes 85,000

Impressive results

According to a report from TechCrunch, combined sales of both versions of the Oculus Rift dev kit have surpassed 85,000, which is quite an impressive results considering that we are still talking about developer kits and not a retail product.

The new Oculus Rift dev kit managed to already sell over 25,000 units, which is even more impressive as it was put for pre-order on March 19th, meaning that it managed to get pre-orders for that amount of units in just under a month. The Oculus Rift dev2 kit will actually ship in July.

As reported earlier, the original, or first version of the Oculus Rift dev kit managed to sell around 60,000 units.

We are quite sure that this number will climb even higher as with the recent acquisition by Facebook and popularity of the virtual reality, will certainly push it quite high.
