Epic Games Unreal Engine 4 gets new subscription

New trailer/demo as well

Getting and developing a game with the Unreal Engine was quite an expensive thing, at least until now, as Epic Games have announced a new model for its Unreal Engine 4 at the Game Developers Conference 2014.

Showing a new trailer/demo called Tappy Chicken, Tim Sweeney, Epic Games' founder noted that the new Unreal Engine 4 is not a shooter engine anymore but actually made for whatever you want to build.

In addition to the trailer/demo for the new Unreal Engine 4, which by the way looks quite good, Epic Games has decided to take a different approach when it comes to "selling" its engine to developers. The Unreal Engine 4 will have a model which will cost US $19 per month but also include 5 percent cut of any gross revenue made from a commercial product, which basically means that if you make a game that is successful, you will owe Epic Games a five percent of profit.

This sounds like a really good deal and will most likely push a lot of developers to Unreal Engine 4.
