MSI officially announces the R9 280 Gaming

With Twin Frozr IV cooler

While it certainly took them some time since the R9 280 was officially launched a while ago, MSI has now officially announced its R9 280 Gaming series graphics card which will feature MSI's well known Twin Frozr IV dual-fan cooler.

Based on AMD's 28nm Tahiti GPU, the R9 280 packs 1792 Stream Processors, 112 TMUs, 32 ROPs and feature 3GB of GDDR5 memory paired up with a 384-bit memory interface. It needs 6+8-pin PCI-Express power connectors and features two mini-DisplayPort, two DVI and a single HDMI outputs.

Since it paired it up with its own, quite famous and quite good, Twin Frozr IV dual-fan cooler, MSI decided to push the R9 280 Gaming up to 933MHz for the base GPU clock, 1000MHz for the GPU Boost while memory ended up at 5.0GHz.

Although MSI did not reveal any details regarding the price or the availability, we expect it to show up in retail/e-tail pretty soon with a price set somewhere around US $280 in the US and around €240 in Europe.
