Toshiba has announced its newest member of the enterprise class hard disk drives, the new AL13SX series which will be available in 300, 450 and 600GB capacities, 2.5-inch form factor, SAS-2.0 interface and a couple of different versions depending on the actual usage scenario.


As noted, the new Toshiba AL13SX will be available in a couple of new versions including the AL13SXB and the self-encrypting AL13SXQ. The entire lineup will be available in 300, 450 and 600GB capacities, be based on a 2.5-inch form-factor with SAS-2.0 interface, 15mm height and spin speed of up at 15,000 rotations per minute (RPM).

According to Toshiba, the new AL13SX series provides high performance in 600GB capacity while also supporting industry standard 512n sector lengths as well as the 4k native and 512e emulation modes. It also brings high storage density, saving rack space and reduces storage footprint and operational burden which are crucial for enterprise customers.

Unfortunately, Toshiba did not shed any light regarding the availability date or the actual price of the new AL13SX series.
