MWC 2014: AMD and BlueStacks working on dual-OS Android solution

For AMD APUs

During Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona AMD has teamed up with Bluestacks to unveil a new dual-OS Android solution which will be optimized for AMD's APUs. The new solution will bring virtualized Android OS experience to Windows 8- and AMD APU-based tablets, notebooks and desktops.

According to AMD's Steve Belt, corporate vice president of Product Management at AMD, the ability to span two OS ecosystems will give the end-user an access to both Windows and Android apps as well as provide seamless integration of apps across those ecosystems.

The new dual-OS solution from AMD and Bluestacks will bring the same Android user interface, feature an ability to run Android apps within a window or at full-screen with use of AMD graphics processing power, support hundreds of thousands of currently available Android apps from various app stores, seamless integration with direct file sharing as well as support for sensors including cameras, accelerometer, gyroscope and others.

According to Bluestacks' CEO, Rosen Sharma, the Android-ready PCs are the future and with Bluestacks technology users can get best from both worlds.

Unfortunately, it appears that we will have to wait for it a bit longer as although it "should" already be available with certain retailers in the US as an option when buying an AMD-based PC, the EMEA region will get it "later this year".
