Although it was only recently rumored, AMD has now officially announce its newest Radeon R7 265 graphics card which should fill the gap between the R7 260X and the R9 270 graphics cards.
As rumored earlier, the Radeon R7 265 is based on AMD's 28nm Curacao GPU which makes it pretty much identical to the previously available Radeon HD 7850. It packs 1024 Stream Processors, 64 TMUs, 32 ROPs, and packs 2GB of GDDR5 memory paired up with a 256-bit memory interface. It supports DirectX 11.2, OpenGL 4.3 and brings support for AMD's Mantle API.
AMD decided to put the US $149.99 price tag for the new Radeon R7 265 which puts it smack in between the US $139 R7 260X and the US $179 R9 270. It will also put a bit more pressure on Nvidia's GTX 650 Ti Boost and the upcoming GTX 750.
