Intel plans to cut 5,000 jobs

Due to flat quarterly results

In comment for CNET, Intel noted that the 5,000 cut is not all about simply laying off people but "could also include redeployments, voluntary programs, retirements, and through attrition." The recent flat quarterly financial report as well as a recent report that the company will not start production at Fab 42 in Arizona, which should have been focused on 14nm manufacturing process were most likely reasons for the "restructuring" or simply cutting down the workforce.

Intel is still holding its ground in the x86 market but due to current situation on the PC computer market, Intel definitely needs to get a piece of ever-growing tablet market.
