Nvidia G-Sync has made a lot of noise recently and it was just a matter of time before we saw something similar from AMD as well. During CES 2014, AMD has unveiled the new FreeSync technology, which, although not as good as G-Sync, is actually free.
AMD used two retail Toshiba Satellite notebooks in order to demonstrate the new FreeSync technology at CES 2014 and it apparently does a much better job than V-Sync, but we guess it will be behind Nvidia's G-Sync in terms of performance. On the other hand, Nvidia G-Sync needs a special module and requires a special gaming monitor with G-Sync technology, while AMD's FreeSync works on any monitor and is completely free.
Unfortunately, other than a FreeSync demo showed at CES 2014, we still lack a lot of informations and details regarding the FreeSync, but we are sure that AMD will spill out more details in the upcoming days.
