Sapphire's Radeon R9 290 pictured

Based on reference design

As we are drawing close to the official launch date set for October 31st, it is not a big surprise that Sapphire-branded Radeon R9 290 managed to get pictured over at Chiphell.com.

In case you missed all the earlier news posts regarding the upcoming Radeon R9 290 graphics card, you should know that it will practically be based on the same PCB as the R9 290X, need 6+8-pin PCI-Express power connectors, have dual-BIOS feature but slightly lower 2560 stream processor number, 160 TMUs, 64 ROPs and 4GB of GDDR5 memory paired up with the same 512-bit memory interface.

As it was the case with the recently launched R9 290X, all R9 290 graphics cards will be based on the same AMD reference design while custom ones are expected sometime in late November.

According to earlier rumors, the Radeon R9 290 could hit retail/e-tail shelves with a US $449.99 price tag.
