There has been a couple of leaks regarding AMD's upcoming Volcanic Islands lineup and the new One shows the upcoming Curacao Pro based graphics card in its full glory. In case you missed it earlier, the Curacao Pro based graphics cards should replace the current Radeon HD 7800 series Pitcain based ones and will also be available in Pro and XT versions.
Of course, take this leak with a grain of salt as well considering that there has been virtually none leaks regarding the mid-range Volcanic Islands series but the picture shows a graphics card that looks like nothing seen so far and features a rather odd looking cooler with intakes. It is still a blower style cooler and takes up two slots but we hope that it performs as good as it looks.
According to the earlier details the Curacao Pro graphics cards should hit retail/e-tail shelves as the R7-260 or R9-270 while the Curacao XT version should be the R9-270X. Although there are not many details regarding the actual specification, as far as it can be seen from the pictures, the new Curacao Pro graphics card feature single 6-pin PCI-Express connector so TDP should be at 150W.
The earlier leaked R9-290X Hawaii based flagship ended up with quite impressive rumor specifications and performance in benchmarks so the apple should not fall far from tree and mid-range segment might be quite impressive as well.
In any case, we will not have to wait that much longer as the event for launch is scheduled for 25th of September on the volcanic island of Hawaii.
