As expected, Microsoft has now revealed the price of its upcoming Windows 8.1 OS that will sell at US $120 for the Standard Edition and US $200 for the Windows 8.1 Pro as well as being free for current Windows 8 users via Microsoft's Store.
The good side of the story is that Windows 8.1 can be used for both the clean-installation as well as an upgrade from Vista or Windows 7 that will allow you to keep your files, programs and settings. Microsoft will also release a Windows Upgrade Assistant app that will verify activation, download Windows 8.1 resources and install the new operating system over the existing one in case you are already a Windows 8 user.
In case you missed it earlier, the new Windows 8.1 brings back the Start Button, adds some new DirectX features as well as brings us closer to the DirectX 11.2 as well as much more neat features. Those that are looking to switch from Windows 8.1 to Windows 8.1 Pro will need to pay US $99.
The new Windows 8.1 OS is expected to launch on October 17th.
