Meanwhile the countdown is ticking for the PlayStation 4 hard-launch and now the fight between Sony and Microsoft starts to become really interesting. But today it's AMD, which makes a statement, that PlayStation 4 fanboys will use against Microsoft in the neverending console war.
When it comes to console wars, there is not one day without people finding ridiculous points to tell others that the product they want to buy or have already bought is useless and today it's AMD that gives the PlayStation 4 fraction another reason to talk bad about the Xbox one - although not on purpose.
Usually during speeches we hear about higher Teraflop numbers or which manufacturer is putting more memory into their product. But now AMD is just saying that the PS4 will be more powerful than you would imagine. In fact they make their point talking about hUMA (heterogenous Uniform Memory Access), which is an architecture that allows the CPU and the VGA to access the same memory. When it comes to consoles this should help reducing tearing effects.
Once the PlayStation 4 makes it to market you shouldn't expect tearing to be history, since it's most likely, that it will take game developers quite some time until they found out how to exactly take care of all the new features.
