Sony drops PS Vita price down to €199/$199

Memory card price will drop as well

During its Gamescom press conference in German town of Cologne and in addition to the Playstation 4 official launch date, Sony has also announced a price drop for its PS Vita handheld console down to €199 in Europe and US $199 in North America.

In case you missed it earlier, Sony's PS Vita was priced at US $249 in North America so it is a decent US $50 price drop. In addition to the price drop for the PS Vita, Sony also noted that PS Vita memory cards price will be reduced significantly but did not go into any specifics. Most of the complaints regarding Sony's PS Vita were exactly aimed at a high price of memory cards, so it looks like that Sony is finally paying much more attention to what users want.

Currently, Sony PS Vita memory cards are priced at around €35 for the 8GB, €50 for 16GB and €75 for the 32GB one.

While it was previously rumored that Sony might be announcing a new bundle that would bring Playstation 4 together with the PS Vita, that did not happen, but it also does not mean that it will not since we are still far away from the official Playstation 4 launch date set for 29th of November.

Sony also confirmed the earlier announcement that 12GB Playstation 3 Super Slim will be priced at US $199/€199, something that we have been seeing around retail/e-tail for quite some time.
