HTC wants 15 percent of smartphone market

Quite an optimistic prediction

HTC wants to play with the big dogs and secude 10 to 15 percent of globals smartphone share. During a shareholders meeting, HTC CEO, Peter Chou, noted that the company managed to maintain a 4-percent share last year and that it is "determined" to expand to 10 to 15 percent.

HTC was close to that prediction not long ago as it held that magical 10 percent share but when it got tangled with Samsung it lost a lot. A lot of other players lost a lot of market share as Samsung is simply a marketing giant. HTC actually did well with its HTC One smartphone but still lacks good mid- and entry-level smartphones while Samsung certainly scores big in those markets.

HTC also plans to redouble the efforts this year to further enhance the brand recognition and loyalty around the world. We certainly hope that HTC will succeed as healthy competition is always good for the consumers.
