Microsoft has teamed up with Japanese mobile game studio KLab in order to bring its Age of Empires game title to Android and iOS devices.
According to Reuters report, KLab will have to squeeze the game down to be playable on smaller screens and actually playable via touch. According to the same report, the game should be free to play but the precise "free to play" model has not been revealed. The same source also pointed out that, in addition to iOS and Android versions, Microsoft also wants a Windows Phone 8 version as well but that one should come at a later date.
Although it should have been launched before end of March, the game is still nowhere to be seen but also might be in its final stages. It is plausible that Microsoft wants to wait with the release of Windows Phone 8 version until its Windows Phone GDR3 update is released but that is left to be seen.
In any case, Age of Empires is certainly one of the classics that we would gladly see on any mobile device.
