Just a few days ahead of its launch scheduled for 27th of June, Nvidia has decided to drop the price of its hand-held Android based and Tegra 4 driven Shield console down tu US $299.
According to Nvidia, all updates that Nvidia did to the Shield came as a result of a direct feedback from gamers and community, including the actual feel of the console as well as its new price. While originally selling with a pre-order price of US $349, Nvidia has concluded according to feedback, that most consumers would prefer the US $299 price tag.
In addition to the price-cut, Nvidia has also officially confirmed the 27th of June as the launch date for the Shield and noted that those who pre-ordered the device will be charged US $299 when their own console ships.
The US $299 price tags still seems a bit too steep but it is definitely much better than the previous US $349 one.
