Although it was already leaked earlier this year, Asus has now officially launched the new ASUS P9X79-E WS socket LGA2011 motherboard aimed for use with the upcoming Core Ivy Bridge-E and Xeon Ivy Bridge-EP line of CPUs.

Based on Intel's X79 Express chipset, the P9X79-E WS uses SSI-CEB 305x267mm form-factor and is powered by a 10-phase VRM for the CPU and 4-phase VRM for memory. It feature eight DDR3 DIMM slots, four on each side of the CPU socket with support for up to 64GB of quad-channel DDR3-2133 memory. It comes with a total of seven PCI-Express x16 slots with support for both 4-way SLI and CrossfireX.

The rest of the features include a total of six SATA 6Gbps ports, two from X79 PCH and four from Marvell chip, six SATA 3Gbps ports, four from PCH and two from ASMedia controller, four USB 3.0 ports courtesy of ASMedia again, two Gigabit Ethernet port, 7.1-channel audio, and a couple of overclocking friendly features like POST LED and on-board power, reset and clear CMOS buttons.

The P9X79-E WS should be already available with a price of US $499.99.
