Fusion-io announces new ioFX workstation PCIe SSD

With 1.6TB of capacity

Previously available in up to 420GB of capacity, Fusion-io has now announced a new ioFX workstation acceleration platform with up to 1.6TB of capacity.

Aimed for professional users working on video editing, computer assisted design (CAD), 4K and stereoscopic production, as well as digital intermediate (DI) finishing, the 1.6TB Fusion ioFX might be the best storage solution on the market. It features read and write bandwidth (1MB) of up to 1.4GB/s and up to 1.1GB/s and read and write access latency (4K) of 77µs and 19µs. The Fusion-io ioFX uses PCI-Express 2.0 x4 bus interface and feature MLC NAND flash chips.

On a similar note, Fusion-io has announced that its ioFX workstation acceleration platform will be integrated with HP's Z820, Z620 and Z420 workstations.

The 1.6TB Fusion ioFX is expected to be available in summer 2013 while price is expected to be announced at around the same time. Of course, do not expect it to be cheap as currently the 420GB version is selling at US $1995.
