A couple of days ago, we have received a big package with inside a bunch of AMD B450 motherboards. With the Prime B450M-A and Prime B450M-Plus, ASUS adds two motherboards based on the mid-range chipset of AMD. As you might guess, both models belong to the Prime series. Compared to the previous generations, both models sport a different design.
Although they belong to the same series and the product name isn't so far from each other, these two motherboards come with a different layout and design. While the Prime B450M-Plus aims at gamers, the Prime B450M-A is designed for office PCs. In other words, on the Prime B450M-Plus you will find nice heat sinks, more features and connectors.
The Prime B450M-Plus is based on an ATX form factor, yet this time ASUS is using all the space available on the PCB. Furthermore there are two full-size PCIe slots but only one of them has been wired with sixteen lanes. In addition there are three PCIe x1 slots. Storage wise we find six SATA ports and one M.2 slot. In general the layout is quite simple and therefore it has also been equipped with several 4-pin PWM headers.
The Prime B450M-A, ASUS adds a micro-ATX motherboard. This model feature a rather simple layout and it doesn't come with any heat sink. The storage connections are the same of the previous model, the only difference is about the PCIe slots. Since there is less space on the PCB, ASUS has dropped one PCIe x1 and one PCIe x16 slots.
Below you can find some pictures of both models.
