During the GEC 2016, GALAX have shown a few new products mostly designed for the Chinese market. According to XFastest the manufacturer unveiled their first single slot GeForce GTX 1070 graphics card during this event, although Galax did not confirm that it’s actually really a GTX 1070.
Although it looks like this is a rumor, the new graphics card features a single slot heatsink. According to the images, it appears there is a dense copper fin array with a radial fan. The entire cooler is covered by a metal shroud with industrial design. It seems unlikely that a single slot cooler is effectively removing the heat from a 150W TDP graphics card, which the GTX 1070 is. It appears much more likely that the blower type cooler sits on top of a 120W TDP GTX 1060 6GB and even that would be a tough call for such a slim cooler.
However there could be another theory regarding this card. According to a review on people.overclockers.ru, most Pascal GPUs can run with much lower voltages and slightly lower clocks which results in a lower TDP and and thus less heat.
Lately we have seen a few interesting overclocking scores made with GALAX' graphics card which means the company is able to offer specially binned chips. If GALAX could offer a GTX 1070 with lower TDP that would mean that a single slot cooler could really be capable of removing the heat from the underlying chip.
