We already wrote a bit about EVGA's VRM overheating issue which was affecting certain EVGA GTX 1070 FTW and GTX 1080 FTW graphics cards with ACX cooler but it appears that the issue is a bit bigger than initially thought, but luckily, EVGA has a fix and should replace all damaged cards.

According to the earlier report, the issue is present due to the fact that there are no thermal pads that connect the VRM to the main heatsink or the backplate, which shows higher temperatures and, in certain scenarios, make the VRM burn out without warning, leaving users with dead GTX 1070 and GTX 1080 graphics cards.

The issue was first noticed by Toms Hardware site and was later confirmed by EVGA which will offer either thermal pads or a replacement graphics card for affected customers.

This is a somewhat big issue as bulk of EVGA's GTX 1070 and GTX 1080 graphics cards are coming from the FTW lineup but thankfully, EVGA is dealing with it properly and will replace all those damage cards and send out free thermal pads to those that have issues.
