Nvidia has officially launched the 3GB version of the GTX 1060 graphics card which is quite different than the original 6GB version, packing both half the memory amount as well as less CUDA cores.
Based on the same GP106 GPU as the GTX 1060 6GB version which had 1280 CUDA cores, the 3GB version is further cut-down, leaving it only with 1152 CUDA cores, 72 TMUs and 48 ROPs. The reference versions should work at 1506MHz for the GPU base, 1708MHz for the GPU Boost clock and come with 3GB of 8GHz clocked GDDR5 memory on a 192-bit memory interface.
Targeting gamer that play on 1080p resolution, the GTX 1060 3GB is priced at US $199.
Nvidia AIC partners have already come up with their own versions and there are plenty of graphics cards to pick, ranging from reference ones to custom versions.
