Crucial unveils new high-density DDR4 server memory

32GB RDIMM and 64GB LRDIMM

Crucial has announced availability of its two new server-grade memory products, the 32 GB DDR4 VLP RDIMMs and 64 GB DDR4 LRDIMMs, both with 2400MT/s sample rate.

Thanks to a dual stack of 8Gb DDR4 DRAM die into a single 16Gb component, Crucial managed to raise both the memory density as well as performance and bandwidth.

The new 32GB VLP RDIMMs are currently highest density server modules in Crucial's lineup of that form-factor and are 40 percent shroter than a standard RDIMM module. Designed for blade servers and micro-servers, these modules can also be installed in a 90-degree angle to the motherboard.

The 64 GB LRDIMM is also the highest density server memory module in its own form-factor, and feature a memory buffer chip to present a single logical rank to the server, allowing more DIMMs to be used per-channel without reducing memory bandwidth.

Both the 32 GB DDR4 16 Gb-based VLP RDIMMs and 64 GB DDR4 16 Gb-based LRDIMMs are optimized for the latest Intel Xeon processor E5-2600 v4 CPUs and are available for purchase. Unfortunately, Crucial did not reveal any details regarding the price.
