Microsoft has announced that Windows 10 OS is now active on over 200 million computers, tablets or smartphones, saying that it has a much faster adoption rate compared to the Windows 7 or Windows 8 OS.
According to Microsoft, it took Windows 7 around 12 months to hit the same mark and Windows 8 needed around 15 months.
The faster adoption rate can be attributed to the holiday shopping season as Microsoft notes that over 40 percent of Windows 10 activations were seen after Black Friday.
Consumers aren't the only one pushing Windows 10 as Microsoft says that 76 percent of its enterprise customers are also testing Windows 10 OS.
If the Windows 10 OS manage to keep this high adoption rate, it will easily overtake the Windows XP, one of the most popular operating systems. Currently Windows XP is used on around 11 percent of all desktop systems while Windows 10 holds a good 10 percent. Microsoft's Windows 7 is still the king, holding 56 percent of desktop share despite Microsoft offering a free upgrade to Windows 10.
