We have already seen ASUS' Maxmium VIII Hero Alpha motherboard, which is one of the first motherboards on the market to implement custom lighting with dedicated RGB LED strip headers and today we have some details regarding the AURA Lighting Control software and how it all works.
In addition to the LED ROG logo, the Maximus VIII Hero Alpha motherboard also features two dedicated RGB LED strip headers near the edge of the motherboard, or just below the last PCI-Express port, which support standard 5050 RGB LED strips with a maximum power rating of 12V/2A.
What makes these headers special is the fact that you do not need the controller or extra power for them, all provided via header. ASUS actually bundles extension cables and it is quite easy to find RGB LED strips these days.
With the AURA Lighting Control software, you can actually control all three "zones" independently, including ROG logo and each of the RGB LED strip headers. In addition standard lighting, you can set these RGB LEDs to work in six different modes, including static, breathing, CPU temperature, strobing, color cycle and music effect.
It is definitely a neat feature that differentiate ASUS Maximus VIII Hero Alpha from the rest of the competition.
