Samsung Japan has unveiled the new SSD 750 EVO over the weekend, revealing some of the first details on the first member of Samsung's 7-series SSDs.
Apparently limited to smaller capacities for now, 120GB and 240GB, at least as far as Samsung Japan site revealed, the Samsung SSD 750 EVO will be based on Samsung's current MGX controller paired up with 1xnm TLC NAND flash. It will be based on a standard 2.5-inch form-factor with SATA 6Gbps interface.
Unfortunately, Samsung Japan only lists details for the 120GB version, which offers sequential read and write performance of up to 540MB/s and 520MB/s, respectively. The random 4K performance (QD32) is set at 94,000 IOPS for read and 88,000 for write.
The entire Samsung SSD 750 EVO series will be backed by a 3-year warranty and we are looking at the same controller which was previously used on the SSD 850 EVO series, this time paired up with 2D planar TLC NAND.
Unfortunately, we have no details regarding the price or the availability date and Samsung has yet to officially announce the new SSD 750 EVO series, so we will probably hear more about it soon.
