EA has finally unveiled the new Mirror's Edge Catalyst and in a interview with Polygon, Senior Producer Sara Jansson said, that there won't be any guns in the new free-running first-person game.
Jansson added that the aspect of guns has been completely removed from the game and it's not even possible to pick them up. EA and DICE have developed an entirely new combat system, which should fit the flow of the game much better. According to them guns and killing don't add value to this type of game. Instead they improved melee fighting techniques, which should fell like an extension of the running experience. What sounds quite interesting is that when Faith manages to keep up her momentum, she becomes invulnerable to bullets. As soon as she stops she can be injured.
Overall it sounds like EA/DICE have given the game mechanics a lot of thought and hopefully the game will be as flowy and at the same time different to play like it's predecessor.
Mirror's Edge Catalyst has been announced for 23rd February 2016 and it will be released for Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC simultaneously. There will also be a 200 US-Dollar Collectors edition with quite a few goodies.
