With new DirectCU III cooler
ASUS has decided that AMD's update for the Radeon R9 390 series is just not enough and has decided to launch the new Strix R9 390 lineup pairing it with a whole new ASUS DirectCU III triple-fan cooler.
According to what we know so far, ASUS' upcoming Radeon R9 390 series graphics card will feature the new DirectCU III triple wing-blade fan design which should be up to 30 percent cooler and three times quieter as well as offer the new no-disturbance 0dB mode. The new Strix models will also use ASUS' new Auto-Extreme technology with Super Alloy Power II components as well as be made with the industry’s first 100%-automated manufacturing process, which we wrote about earlier.
The new Auto-Exteme technology should eliminate flux to minimize dust buildup and oxidization, and the rear side of the graphics cards’ printed-circuit boards are totally smooth, increasing comfort for system-builders. The new ASUS Strix R9 390 Strix lineup will also use Super Alloy Power II components which should reduce power loss, decrease buzzing under load, and lower thermal dynamics.
The star of the new ASUS Strix R9 390 series lineup is the new DirectCU III cooler with triple wing-blade fan design. It will feature two 10mm direct-GPU-contact heatpipes, paired up with heatsinks that will be cooled by three new wing-blade design fans which should make it 30 percent cooler and up to three times quieter compared to reference design.
The ASUS Strix R9 390X, model name STRIX-R9390X-DC3OC-8GD5-GAMING, will work at up to 1070MHz GPU clock and pack 8GB of GDDR5 memory while the ASUS Strix R9 390 will work at up to 1050MHz for the GPU and also pack 8GB of memory. Memory will end up clocked at 6.0GHz on both graphics card but we still do not have more details.
Unfortunately, ASUS did not reveal any details regarding the actual availability date or the price but we are surely looking forward to see those in our lab.
