ASUS uses fully-automated graphics card production

To bring more reliable, higher quality graphics cards

ASUS has announced that it has started the industry's first fully-automated graphics card production process, which should result in more reliable and higher quality graphics cards.

While some parts of graphics cards were earlier built by hand, the Auto-Extreme, as ASUS calls it, is the new graphics card production process which is fully-automated a thus should eliminate the chance of human error. It automates all the steps of PCB manufacturing, which includes rolling the spools and manufacturing MOSFETs.

While some PCB components were previously soldered to the PCB by hand, ASUS' new manufacturing process is now completely automated, providing much better precision than ever before.

The rest of the process designs are further optimized for automated process and since everything is automated, installation of the components can be accomplished without oxidation and in environments with less dust.

Spotted by Tomshardware.com and according to ASUS, such manufacturing process will lead to lower production cost due to lower failure rate while graphics cards will probably have higher quality and be more reliable.

The first graphics cards that have been built using this new production line are the 20th anniversary GTX 980 graphics card.
