GTA V is part of AMD Gaming Evolved program

With support for Contact Hardening Shadows

While Rockstar's PC version of Grand Theft Auto V is probably one of the most anticipated games, it does not come as a surprise that AMD announced it as a part of its Gaming Evolved program and will have support for Contact Hardening Shadows.

AMD already released Catalyst 15.4 Beta drivers which bring certain game optimizations for GTA V as well as Crossfire profile for it, but it also appears that the game will also support the unique Contact Hardening Shadows feature, something that we have not seen so far.

According to AMD, the Contact Hardening Shadows feature will dynamically harden or soften shadow’s edges depending on the distance of the shadow from the light source and object casting that shadow, which should result in softer shadows that diffuse more realistically.

Those running on AMD Radeon hardware can enable this feature under soft shadows drop menu in graphics options.
