Valve gets rid of Steam refunds in EU

With a new license agreement

In order to stop Steam refunds in Europe, Valve has updated its license agreement which actually goes around usual buyer practice in Europe where customers can actually return their purchases up to two weeks after.

While it was definitely a thorn in Valve's eye, the company now managed to successfully go around the law and forbid Steam refunds by changing the Steam subscribe license agreement where in order to make a purchase you have complete access to the content, without 14-day withdrawal period and thus waiving your right to withdraw from purchase.

While this is still a gray area in Europe and under EU laws which are pretty strict when it comes to customer protection, it is left to see what will happen with it in future but for now, there is no way to buy a game from Steam without agreeing to the new license agreement which prevents refunds.
