While EA/DICE certainly expected that Battlefield: Hardline will be a massive hit, according to some of the first reviews and scores it does not appear so, at least not compared to earlier titles.
Currently, Metacritic shows Battlefield: Hardline with a score of 75 on Playstation 4 and lower 72 score on both the PC and the Xbox One. While this might not sound bad, it is still lower than Battlefield 3 which managed to get around 89 back in its days. Even Battlefield 4, which had its share of problems has 81 score on PC and Xbox One and 80 on Playstation 4.
Official reviews from some of the popular sites are not that good either as both Gamespot and Polygon gave it 7 out of 10 while others are pretty much in line with those scores as well. IGN gave the game an 8 score describing it as "Battlefield's first foray into stealth" gives a fresh campaign and multiplayer that has something for everyone.
In any case, it is obvious that the game is not doing that well as EA/DICE expected but we will know for sure when the company announce how many copies it managed to sell.
