In a recent interview, Valve has confirmed that it has been experimenting with Half Life with virtual reality headset but the company is still not talking about Half Life 3.
We already know that Valve has partnered up with HTC and its Vive VR headset but in
an interview with Kotaku, Valve's programmer Jeep Barnett finally admitted that they did try it with Half Life. According to Barnett, they used the Half Life art, weapons and tried it out in VR, but also noted that they are using it currently as "a tool for exploring the different kind of game designs we want to do".
Of course, Kotaku pressed Barnett to talk about Half Life and compatibility with VR, but unfortunately still did not managed to get a clear response. Barnett noted that :"We're not saying, 'no,' but we don't know what the right thing is [yet]. Our most precious resource is time, and we don't have enough time for people to do everything. Would we like to make all of our franchises in VR? Absolutely. But we don't have enough time or people. So we have to figure out what's the best fit, what plays to the strengths of VR".
If Valve is indeed working on Half Life 3, there will be a support for VR and there is no question about it. Valve is pretty keen on bringing PC gaming to the living room and VR is definitely a big part of that push.
