Pebble has already announced its new Pebble Time smartwatch and has, once again, turned to Kickstarter for funding. While we did not have any doubt that it will do well, the Pebble Time managed to raise more than US $5 million in pledges in less than 24 hours.
The Kickstarter campaign for Pebble Time still has 29 days until its end and currently has over 45,000 backers with over US $10 million in pledges, scoring US $5 million in less than 24 hours, which is way over its original US $500,000 goal.
In case you missed it back when it was announced, the new Pebble Time smartwatch is 9.5mm thick which makes it 20 percent thinner than the original Pebble smartwatch. The new always-on color e-paper display is protected by Gorilla glass and with stainless steel bezel, the Pebble Time is water resistant. It also comes with a standard 22mm watch band which makes it replaceable. Mostly thanks to its e-paper display, the Pebble Time will have up to 7 days of battery life.
Pebble also announced the new timeline interface for the new Pebble Time, which is also coming to older Pebble models.
The Pebble Time will be available in three colors and exclusively on Kickstarter. The price of the cheapest Pebble Time is currently set at US $179 and it should ship sometime in May.
