Acer announces new XG270HU monitor with AMD FreeSync

27-inch with 2560 x 1440 at 144Hz

Acer has unveiled a new addition to its gaming monitor lineup, a 27-inch 2560x1440 resolution monitor with 144Hz refresh rate and support for AMD FreeSync, the Acer XG270HU.

Based on edge-to-edge frameless design, the new Acer XG270HU features a 27-inch panel with 2560x1440 resolution, high refresh rate of 144Hz, response time of 1ms and support for AMD's FreeSync. In case these specifications sound familiar to you, do not be surprised as it is the same as the XB270HU model which Acer unveiled earlier and which has support for Nvidia's G-Sync.

What makes the XG270HU different is the support for AMD FreeSync, AMD's response to Nvidia G-Sync. Unlike Nvidia G-Sync, AMD uses open standards in DisplayPort specification and practically does the same thing, removes screen tearing and reduce stuttering in games by syncing refresh rate of the display with the frame rate of AMD Radeon graphics card.

The new XG270HU also looks exactly the same as the XB270HU G-Sync model although the red bottom bezel looks more fitting considering it has support for AMD Freesync.

The Acer XG270HU comes with HDMI 2.0, dual-link DVI and, of course, DisplayPort 1.2a inputs as well as stereo 2W speakers.

Unfortunately, Acer did not reveal any details regarding the price but we will keep an eye for it on usual price search engines as it should be available sometime next month.
