Streacom has announced, what the company describes as, the culmination of a year long project meant to re-design, re-engineer, and refine all aspects of its computer chassis range, and that same culmination is the new Alpha line of PC cases.
While the general idea remained, Streacom notes that not a single part from any previous case has been re-utilized on the Alpha line of cases. The Alpha line, as Streacom notes, is a total reboot and lays the foundation for future product compatibility, expansion, and manufacturing processes and comes with unified internal design that will be available with and without optical drives.
While almost every case in the new Alpha lineup, which includes the FC5 Alpha, F7C Alpha, FC8 Alpha, FC9 Alpha and the FC10 Alpha, feature certain unique improvements, the entire Alpha lineup also share some upgraded features like high precision extrusion, CNC and tolerances for all aluminium parts, new anodizing process with improved surface treatment, redesigned drive trays for easier installation, greater flexibility and more storage options, the new dedicated optical drive tray for easier fitting and adjustment, optimized venting to improve internal convection airflow and cooling, refined power button with O-ring damper and pure white power LED indicator, front/side USB 3.0 ports, new heatpipes and improved mount surfaces for better thermal performance, fewer visible screws and aesthetic refinements to all sides and surfaces, unified internal designs which allows non-optical versions of the cases, reduced IR window acrylic thickness to improve detection and increase remote range, as well as a couple of improvements concerning case packaging and bundle.
As noted, Streacom also included a couple of improvements that are unique to certain cases in the new Alpha lineup including redesigned bottom panel with higher strength, improved convection and more drive options for the FC5, added supports for 92mm fan and larger side venting for more airflow for the F7C, stealth side panel and redesigned heatsink for the FC8, and much more features including USB ports on both sides, thicker top panel brackets, new silicon feet pads, standard width PCI expansion slots for dual graphics card support, dedicated SSD mounting brackets and more.
