Galaxy shows its Heracles PCIe SSD

Coming in 1, 2 and 4TB capacities

Although usually known for their white PCB Nvidia based graphics cards, Galaxy is apparently joining in the premium SSD market with the new Hall of Fame series Heracles PCIe SSD that will offer impressive sequential read/write performance as well as come in 1, 2 and 4TB capacities.

Galaxy's Hall of Fame (HOF) line is reserved for high-end graphics cards, but it appears that Galaxy wants a piece of that PCI-Express based solid-state drive market with its Heracles PCIe SSD.

While most precise details are still unknown, Tweaktown.com managed to get at least some information including the fact that it will be based on a custom JMF811 JMicron controller which was designed for Galaxy as well as be available in 1TB, 2TB and 4TB capacities. Featuring a PCIe 2.0 x4 interface, the Galaxy Heracles PCIe SSD will offer sequential read and write performance of up to 1,600MB/s.

Although precise details are still unknown, we are quite sure that Galaxy's Heracles PCIe SSD will come with a hefty price tag, especially due to its high 1, 2 and 4TB capacities, but some gamers that are looking for high-end performance will certainly go for it.

The new Galaxy Heracles PCIe SSD will feature HOF shroud as well as the recognizable white PCB, but it is still not clear if it will need an active cooling or is it passively cooled. For now, Galaxy only showcased the Heracles PCIe SSD and noted that it should come to market in Q2 2015, but we are sure that more details will be available at CES 2015, scheduled for January 2015.
