Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphone missed its mark

Did not do well, except in the USA

According to a fresh report, Samsung's latest flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S5, did not do as well as the company expected and did not even touch the sales of its predecessor, the Galaxy S4.

According to a report from The Wall Street Journal, Samsung managed to sell around 12 million units in the first three months, which is around 4 million less than the Galaxy S4 or around 40 percent lower than expected. According to the same report, the sales were down by over 50 percent in China, while it only did well in the USA, which is actually Samsung's strongest and biggest market.

According to the report, Samsung overestimated the amount of stock needed, which lead to higher advertising in order to get rid of the units that were in stock. The WSJ also suggest that Samsung is considering to make some changes at the executive level, suggesting that mobile chief co-CEO JK Shin will step away from its position.

Samsung already promised that it will change its smartphone portfolio and the amount of smartphones it launches every year, after its low profit and revenue during last financial report.

Of course, Samsung did not comment on rumors and speculations so we will just have to wait and see.
