Futuremark adds Ultra HD Firestrike benchmark

3DMark goes UHD/4K

Futuremark has released its latest version update for 3DMark (2013) benchmark which adds a third variant of the well known FireStrike benchmark, the FireStrike Ultra with 4K/UHD 3840x2160 resolution.

The new 1.4.775 version update for 3DMark adds a new, third, variant to well known 3DMark FireStrike benchmark. Previously available in standard 1920x1080 and Extreme 2560x1440 versions, the FireStrike benchmark will now also be available in the new FireStrike Ultra version running at 4K/UHD 3840x2160 resolution, pushing GPUs to a whole new benchmark level.

To be unlocked on 3DMark Advanced and Professional licenses, the new FireStrike Ultra benchmark does not require an Ultra HD capable monitor but only a GPU with at least 3GB of video memory.

The new version 1.4.775 update for 3DMark also brings some other updates and bug fixes including a new design for main benchmark selection screen, improved benchmark logging to assist customer support as well as a more robust design for problem identifying or monitoring the hardware in the system. The new update also brings some new updates for the Professional Edition including, ability to set command line options within .3dmdef files and minor change to those definition files, command line logging options with command line progress logging which now includes workload names and loop numbers as well as removal of empty log lines from command line output.

As expected, Futuremark has also added a dedicated tab for the FireStrike Ultra benchmark on its Hall of Fame and it will definitely be fun to see how far will some top overclockers be able to push it.

As always, the update will roll out to latest versions of 3DMark Advanced and Professional Edition while Steam version of 3DMark will also update automatically.
