While we already heard that the expected mid-range Geforce GTX 960 might be delayed, the recent report suggest that this might actually be true due to strong sales of both the Geforce GTX 980 and the Geforce GTX 970 graphics cards.
The newest report coming from
GDM.OR.JP, which reports that Japanese based retailers, which are usually pretty accurate when it comes to date and specifications of the upcoming products, are suggesting that the Geforce GTX 980 and the Geforce GTX 970 will remain the flagship Geforce 900 series products for this year as well as that the budget-friendly and sub-$300 graphics card will be coming next year.
Initially rumored to launch in October this year, the GTX 960 might be delayed to Q1 2015 and come together with the rest of the Nvidia Maxwell based lineup. Of course, these are still rumors and should be taken with a grain of salt but if the sales of the GTX 980 and GTX 970 are that good and there is no obvious response from AMD, other than
the recent price cut across the R9 200 series, Nvidia has no need to come up with a Geforce GTX 960 or any other high-end graphics card.
AMD has earlier suggest that something might come soon with an even planned for this week so it will hopefully force Nvidia to respond as it would definitely be good to see the GTX 960 on shelves as holiday shopping season starts.
