We already knew that EVGA was preparing a few custom versions of the GTX 980 graphics cards including the well known Classified edition as well as the water cooled Hydro Copper version and today, the company has revealed a bit more details regarding those two graphics cards.
Both the EVGA GTX 980 Classified and the EVGA GTX 980 Hydro Copper should be available in next few weeks and be based on a fully custom PCB designed for overclocking enthusiasts. In addition to the custom PCB, the EVGA GTX 980 Classified will also feature a new version of a popular EVGA cooler, the ACX 2.0 which features a denser heatsink array as well as new dual fans.
According to the published specifications, the EVGA GTX 980 Classified will work at 1291MHz base clock while the GPU Boost clock will be set at rather impressive 1400MHz. We do know that there are plenty of overclocking results from the GTX 980 that go over 1400MHz, but this is the first factory overclocked GTX 980 with such frequency. Unfortunately, EVGA decided to keep the 4GB of GDDR5 memory at reference 7010MHz.
Back when the GTX 980 was officially announced we have already seen the EVGA GTX 980 Hydro Copper and knew that it will feature a full cover block coming from EK Waterblocks. Unfortunately, EVGA did not reveal any details regarding the actual clocks of the Hydro Copper version of the GTX 980 graphics card but we are quite sure these will be similar to the Classified version, if not even higher.
In any case, EVGA's custom GTX 980 version will surelly be quite a popular GTX 980 graphics cards on the market and we are looking forward to see how far will it actually be pushed and how good is that custom PCB.
