IFA 2014: 5.7-inch QHD screen and a new S Pen

As expected and announced earlier, Samsung has unveiled and announced its new Galaxy Note 4 smartphone at the Unpacked 2014 Episode 2 event held at IFA 2014 show in Berlin. Following the standard design of the Galaxy Note series, the new Galaxy Note 4 packs a new 5.7-inch SuperAMOLED screen, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 805 SOC, new S Pen, and a couple of more updates.

The design of the new Galaxy Note 4 is quite similar to Galaxy Note series. The Galaxy Note 4 features a metal frame as well as the faux leather backside. The star of the show is its 5.7-inch QHD 2560x1444 (which adds up to 515ppi) Super AMOLED touchscreen placed behind 2.5D curved Corning Gorilla Glass 3, which should make it a bit harder to break as well as make swiping a bit smoother.

The Galaxy Note 4 also comes with the new S Pen which has been updated to feature 2048 pressure points, new features and an experience of a standard pen. The feature list includes updated S Note and Multi-window apps as well as the new Snap Note app which turns photos and documents into editable text.

The heart of the new Samsung Galaxy Note 4 will be both the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset withg LTE Cat. 6 support or the Exynos 5433 chipset with LTE Cat. 4 support, depending on the region. Both chipsets will be paired up with 3GB of memory and it will feature 32GB of internal storage expandable via microSD card slot.

Both cameras on the new Galaxy Note 4 has been also updated so the back one will feature a 16-megapixel sensor with optical image stabilization while the front, 3.7-megapixel camera was designed to capture 60 percent more light for those perfect selfies. The front camera also got a feature that allows you to take wide selfies.

As expected, the Galaxy Note 4 will be running on Android 4.4 KitKat with a dash of TouchWiz seen on the Galaxy S5 smartphone. It also features a 3,220mAh battery as well as an optional Qi wireless charging back panel and will be available in Frosted white, Charcoal black, Bronze Gold and Blossom Pink color options.

Unfortunately, Samsung was not ready to talk about the price but it did note that the Galaxy Note 4 should be on the market in October.
